The amateur events will follow the
ISA Rulebook
Summary:
Itˇ¦s the competitorˇ¦s sole
responsibility to acknowledge and respect all competition rules, and to
gather proper information concerning his/her heat (length, time, etc.)
Criteria to be used in
judging:
The surfer must perform radical controlled maneuvers in
the most
critical sections of a wave with speed, power and flow to maximize scoring
potential.
Innovative/progressive surfing as well as variety of repertoire (maneuvers)
will be taken into
consideration when awarding points for waves ridden. The surfer who executes
the criteria with
the maximum degree of difficulty and commitment on the waves shall be
rewarded with the higher
score.
Poor=0.1-2.5
Average=2.6-4.1
Good=4.2-6.1
Very Good=6.2-7.9
Excellent=8.0-10.0
Amateur/Novice Wave
Criteria:
15 minutes per heat
Top 2 waves tallied
10 wave maximum
Paddle out on 5-minute warning; wait in channel
Back-to-back heats
Team
Challenge Wave
Criteria:
20 minute heats
30 minute final for the top 2 teams
Top 2 waves of each team member tallied
Team with the most points wins
Return Jersey at
the end of the heat to avoid disqualification & possible fine
Paddle out on the
five minute warning
Competitors will
wear the contest jersey provided by sponsors from time of issuance, until
returned to the beach marshall at the end of the heat, and if appropriate,
during the awards presentation or be fined $1,000. The covering of the
jersey with national flags, towels, etc. is not allowed as it demeans the
value of the sponsors!

1 Horn : 1 Green Flag
5-minutes
left in heat warning signal:
0 Horn: Yellow Flag & PA announcement
End of heat
signal:
2 Horns: Red Flag
Short break
between heats
Alternates will
replace no-show competitors who fail to check-in at the 10 minutes mark.
Beach
caddyˇ¦s:
Caddyˇ¦s must have a spare board or fins before entering the water.
